Rock Creek Park Entrance Restoration

In 2016 a Union Pacific train derailed next to Mosier’s Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP), spilling tens of thousands of gallons of volatile Bakken crude oil and sparking a fire that caused a partial evacuation. At the time, the railroad company declared they would leave the disaster site better off than it was before.

Making good on that declaration has taken time for a number of reasons, including that the City chose to negotiate an agreement with UPRR to avoid the need for a lawsuit.

A design has been created and is being finalized, and the money is in place.

The entire gravel parking lot and entry road will be surfaced, with substantial landscaping added. Click/tap the design sheet image below to see the details.

Expected construction start: 2024
